If you just browse the site
This site does not ask you to create an account and does not set any cookies - not for advertising, and not for analytics. The one form on the site is the waitlist on the Data Analysis with Claude page, and the section below explains what happens if you use it. If you do not, nothing on this site collects personal information about you.
We do measure how the site is used, in two ways that do not identify you. Our hosting provider, Netlify, keeps standard server logs and produces aggregate traffic reports from them; these logs may include your IP address, browser type and the pages you visited. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service that counts page views without cookies, without tracking you across sites, and without building any profile of you. Both are used only to understand which pages are useful and to operate and secure the service. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how Cloudflare handles this.
This site also loads fonts from Google Fonts. When the fonts load, your browser sends a request to Google's servers, which involves your IP address. Google's own privacy policy covers how Google handles that.
If you join the waitlist
The Data Analysis with Claude page has a form for joining a mailing list. It asks for your email address and, if you want to give it, your first name, and it asks you to tick a box confirming you want to be added. Joining is your choice. The prompt-card deck offered on that page is a welcome gift for joining the list; it is not a download that you have to give your details to receive, and nothing else on this site requires you to sign up.
We use your details for one purpose: to send you emails from Ian Littlejohn about analysing data with Claude - demonstrations, new prompt cards, and the dates of live courses. We send at most one email a week and usually fewer. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box and submitting the form, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying to any email we send you or by writing to ian@ianlittlejohn.com. If you withdraw, we stop emailing you and keep only a record of your address on a suppression list, so that we do not email you again by mistake.
When you submit the form, Netlify, our hosting provider, receives the submission, stores it, and notifies us by email. Netlify also records the time of the submission and the IP address it came from, and it screens submissions for spam. We copy your details into a mailing list that we keep in our Microsoft 365 account, and we send the emails from that account. We keep your details for as long as you stay on the list.
Who else handles your information
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. These service providers are involved in running this site:
- Netlify hosts the site, keeps the server logs described above, and receives and stores waitlist submissions.
- Cloudflare provides the cookieless web analytics that counts page views.
- Microsoft 365 holds the mailing list and sends the emails, if you have joined the waitlist.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Netlify's server logs are retained by Netlify under its own retention policy and are not copied or stored by us. Cloudflare Web Analytics holds only aggregate counts, with nothing that identifies you. If you join the waitlist, we keep your details until you leave the list, and then only on the suppression list described above. Apart from the waitlist, this site does not collect or store any personal information of its own.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it;
- ask for your information in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent to the waitlist emails at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email ian@ianlittlejohn.com. There is no charge and we will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or on 0303 123 1113.
Links to other sites
The course buttons on this site link to Udemy, and the About page and the footer link to LinkedIn. Once you leave this site, those services' own privacy policies apply. Enrolments, payments and course activity all happen on Udemy, not here - this site never sees that information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
